Daniel immediately ducks back into his room, when Merritt turns to look for the socks. He peeks back out, a moment after that, just the top of his head, to make sure Merritt isn't coming up the stairs. Either way, though, he seems more amused, mentally, himself, rather than actually concerned.

After a beat, though, he does note, "Yeah, I'm gonna need those back."
